Coordinators must be new to EF, meaning they have not previously been referred or served previously as a local coordinator. You will receive $500 once they complete the screening and onboarding process and place their first student with a host family.

What does an International Exchange Coordinator do?

As an International Exchange Coordinator (IEC), you play a key role in the world of cultural exchange. You bring cultures together in your community by connecting foreign exchange students, high schools and host families. The role is part-time, flexible and volunteer-spirited.

Recruit families that are willing to welcome an exchange student into their home and make them feel part of the family.

Help host families choose their student

Find out the family’s interests and preferences to show them student profiles that would be a good match.

Build relationships with schools

Promote the high school exchange program to schools and encourage them to welcome EF exchange students.

Engage with your community

Promote our exchange program in your local community through small events, presentations or via social media.

Exchange coordinators are compensated for each exchange student they match with a family and for supervising all their students during the year. In addition to the financial compensation, IECs earn travel rewards and gain access to a nationwide network.
